Where locals actually eat in Schertz and Cibolo
The breakfast tacos, the patio spots, and the places worth the drive. Updated as new spots earn it.
Every "best restaurants" list online is the same five chains and a couple of places that closed two years ago. This isn't that. This is where people who live here actually go, and it gets updated when a spot earns its way on or falls off.
A quick note: restaurants open and close. If something here has changed, tell me and I'll fix it. That's the point of keeping this local.
Breakfast tacos
The unofficial currency of South Texas mornings. Schertz and Cibolo have a handful of spots locals are genuinely loyal to, the kind of place where the line at 7 AM on a Saturday tells you everything. (Specific picks coming as this guide fills in, this is the framework.)
Patio and family spots
When you want somewhere the kids can be kids and you can still enjoy the meal. The area has a few reliable patios that hit on a nice evening.
Worth the short drive
New Braunfels and Garden Ridge add a few more options a few minutes out, especially if you're willing to drive for something specific.
Why this matters if you're moving here
Food is one of the fastest ways to feel like you actually live somewhere instead of just sleeping there. When clients relocate, the "where do I get good tacos / coffee / a burger" question comes up faster than almost anything about the house. Knowing the answer is part of the job.
Got a favorite I'm missing? Let me know, this list is better when locals build it.
