Back-to-school may be looming, but it’s not here just yet! There’s still plenty of time to get outside and joy all that Schertz and the surrounding communities have to offer.

In fact, the Schertz area is teeming with end-of-summer activities. So before you start dreading that morning school bell, head out to one of these fun activities this July and August:

4th of July Jubilee
The city of Schertz will host its 43rd annual 4th of July Jubilee. The event will feature a parade, 5K run, carnival, craft vendors, food, shopping, live entertainment and, of course, a fireworks display.

Carnival - 6 p.m.-11 p.m. July 3 and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 4
5K - 9 a.m. July 4
Parade - 9:30 a.m. July 4

Dollar Movies at the Regal
The Regal LIve Oak Stadium 18 is hosting $1 movies all summer. See The Lego Movie, Alvin and The Chipmunks, Sing, The Peanuts Movie, Lego Ninjago, Ferdinand, The Secret Life of Pets, Trolls, Lego Batman, Boss Baby and More.
When: 10 a.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays in July and August

Float and Flicks
Enjoy the cool of the pool all while watching the classic thriller Jaws on the big screen. Float and Flicks will take place July 21 at Schertz Aquatic Center and will feature the movie screening, hot dogs, ice cream, popcorn and more. Pool noodles will be provided, and shark photo opportunities will be available in the lobby.

Amazing Race
The Schertz Public Library will host a real-life version of amazing race. Complete challenges, solve challenges and race to the finish line with your friends and family, all while competing against other Schertz residents for fun prizes.

Community Lip Sync
Lip sync, dance and perform your heart out at the library’s live Community Lip Sync event July 21. Participants can choose their own songs and perform solo, with a partner or in a group.

Bird Walk
The San Antonio Audubon Society is hosting an interactive bird walk on July 17 at Schertz’s own Crescent Bend Nature Park. Walk with birding expert Sandi Wheeler to learn about local bird life, and be sure to bring binoculars to spot flying friends from far away.
