Schertz is widely known as a great place for military members and their loved ones. But did you know it’s also a top spot once those members’ military service has come to an end?

Well, it is.

According to Sperling’s Best Places, Schertz is actually one of the top places for former military members to find civilian work. Based on factors like the number of local businesses, overall affordability in the area and, of course, the availability of jobs requiring military-related skills, the list put Schertz at No. 5 out of the entire nation.

Are you planning to leave the military and are in need of a new position? Simply want to safeguard your future once your service ends? Then Schertz might be the spot for you. Let’s take a look at the employment landscape here in our little town.

Schertz is known for its manufacturing and distribution industries. The city also boasts many employers in the following fields: advanced materials/manufacturing, healthcare and health support services, medical device manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing and back office/administrative support.

According to Sperling’s Best Places, Schertz’s unemployment is 3.6 percent, and jobs are growing at a rate of 1.82 percent annually. Over the next 10 years, jobs are projected to grow more than 40 percent.
